Blonde at the bone orchard

In California people visit the cemetery even if they don't know any dead people. Here I am with a statue of a child posed in contemplation of Rudyard Kipling's "If". I have it read to me each time I come here, and I'm like, "If all those things are true, yes, sure, why not? But what if they're not? What are you then? A cat?"

I find this setting of the camera makes Glendale fade away, which is just the way my father likes it.

"I buried the stegosaurus," she reported.

Risk-free seesaw

Here I am with Speedy Alexander on the seesaw at school. In my cortical memory I recall a time when seesaws were rusty, hulking metal things that crashed with a contusion-inducing shudder when your partner bolted. Not so with this one: if Speedy suddenly decided to do something else, I would float gently down on my elegantly-clad stems. Somehow it doesn't seem real.
